Busy busy busy

So I have been busy, which is why nothing has been posted for a lil while.

First off, 28mm US infantry, this is about 50% of the way through. These are a mix of Warlord games plastic and metal, I think there may be a small acquisition of some Artizan figures in greatcoat to add some variety.

I have also finally gotten around to mounting my 6mm napoleonics ready for some paint, en mass they look impressive and so many of them, I may be here a while!

Another bunch of Austrians completed, this is the Weid unit, the green cuffs etc really add some contrast to the usual red / white combo.

And finally a curved ball, still in the midst of painting these but you get the gist. Flintloque! I had a large collection of these and then sold them, but recently the guys at the club were enthusing about it and it encouraged me to re invest, ebay is a wonderful tool sometimes. This is the 10 voltiguers from the original boxed set, The orcs are awaiting some attention in the wings.

It has become apparent I really need to start getting the bases textured, I have quite a pile awaiting some love.

28mm Chain of Command

Taking a break from the Napoleonics I have decided to hit my 28mm US infantry, The best place to start is getting the distracting stuff out of the way. This being a few vehicles I have, 2 half tracks and a jeep, all from Warlord games, and not bad bits of kit, the jeep is resin and white metal, the halftracks are the IM kits, took about 30 minutes each to assemble and then a quick blast with the airbrush followed by various washes and effects using AK Interactive enamel products. The one halftrack has received an application of Mig weathering powders to simulate a heavy build up of mud, jury is out on this one, may wash it off, if anyone is watching and has an opinion, do share!

OOOOoooo shiney

So I thought I would note this down for prosperity, as mentioned earlier I also model vehicles, well came across a recent release by a company called ICM from the Ukraine, not the best quality but the do produce some interesting vehicles. In question is the Henschel 33 d1 kfz.72, basically a bloody big 6 wheeled truck with an office body on ta back, sadly the office is a shell but hopefully one of the AM companies will produce the interior, such as IBG, expensive but they do two very nice sets for the einheitsdiesel kfz 62.
Part, a polish company who produce photo etch have come to the rescue re replacing a good proportion of the over sized plastic with metal x 3 sets.............. getting the sweats....... wants it

henschel-33-d1-kfz72-wwii-german-radio

And it would appear they are also doing the Krupp version

krupp-l3h163-kfz72

Also from the Ukraine is Masterbox and they are producing this

radio car

so all in all my inner geek for early war radio communications vehicles is taking form.

Oh yes and its birthday and christmas soon hehe.

Its been a few days since posting, work and ill health take their tolls. But with that said there has been a little movement on the painting front, not a lot but a little, this comprised of completing the red jackets on my 6mm naps, no mean feat. An then to find that I had based em for painting with centre and flank companies intermingled DOH! that will teach me to be more observant....

After much faffing I started on the light battalion which I chose to paint as the 51st West Riding, you can just pick em out with the black shakos.

So they are progressing nicely!

I dug out my 6mm dirtside sci fi, these are GZG Kravak and NSL, am considering using them with stargrunt as 25mm is too large for my tastes, a well positioned squad and the table is locked, hopefully scaling down might enable a more grand tactical game....we shall see.

Now I am still scratching my head as to which scale for WW2..........

What has thrown me is the appearance of Clockwork Goblin, 15mm wierd WW2, German and U.S power armour, combined with Zombies and walkers, now I have been lucky enough to see the masters in the flesh (dont ask!) and they look so much nicer in the flesh so to speak than the 3D cads posted on their site......

I have a good collection of WW2 in 15mm, German an U.S. including scenery, its just seen much better days and has been skimmed and sold off. So needs repainting and gaps filled and other areas expanded.

15mm, huge amounts of Yanks in the lower boxes.

10mm stuff, paints up nice!
My 10mm from Pendraken is rather lovely!!!! nice scale and great for 1:1 combat level with the Panzermarsch ruleset, not to mention full of character, BUT I only have German forces at present.

Still have some stuff to dig out and drop into the painting lists .......... TBC
