No Money! No Swiss! more Napoleonics

Another day another update, this may be a record!

So another infantry regiment, this time the 3rd Swiss, mercenaries the lot of em! They had the privilege of fighting both on the Peninsular and also into Russia, so this fits into my overall collection nicely as I'm hoping to cover Leipzig too. This should at this scale just require changing the elite companies due to the distinctive headgear amendments.

Painting rather than posting

My time has been spent painting furiously of late, so please excuse the lack of updates.

That painting has predominantly been concerned with Napoleonics. Hammering through the Artillery, First full regiment completed and some caissons for good measure.

Got wood

My eyes were not upto painting 6mm yesterday so I thought i would satisfy one of those jobs that have been nagging me quietly for some time now and that was to get some scenery produced, so here are my efforts so far...

The buildings are 10mm scale, whilst the woodland will cover both 10mm and 6mm

Busy busy busy

So I have been busy, which is why nothing has been posted for a lil while.

First off, 28mm US infantry, this is about 50% of the way through. These are a mix of Warlord games plastic and metal, I think there may be a small acquisition of some Artizan figures in greatcoat to add some variety.

I have also finally gotten around to mounting my 6mm napoleonics ready for some paint, en mass they look impressive and so many of them, I may be here a while!

Another bunch of Austrians completed, this is the Weid unit, the green cuffs etc really add some contrast to the usual red / white combo.

And finally a curved ball, still in the midst of painting these but you get the gist. Flintloque! I had a large collection of these and then sold them, but recently the guys at the club were enthusing about it and it encouraged me to re invest, ebay is a wonderful tool sometimes. This is the 10 voltiguers from the original boxed set, The orcs are awaiting some attention in the wings.

It has become apparent I really need to start getting the bases textured, I have quite a pile awaiting some love.

A few more Napoleonics off the painting table

These are Adler miniatures 'special' sculpts, full of character.

Really should photograph the rest of my recent output, its been productive!

And the finished First battalion of French that I am happy about. The flag has been added since this picture was taken.

The road is a section I bought from a manufacturer via Ebay, Fatfrank, quite nice, fairly rigid but they fit in nicely with the rest of my collection.

A very long over due update.

6 mm Napoleonics have hit the painting table, all Adler, IMHO the best out there full of character and packed with detail.

I am concentrating initially on French and Russian, this will be expanded further into smaller nations and then start work on my British to encapsulate the peninsular campaign.

So French forces to paint so far.....

24 battalions of infantry
4 regiments of cavalry
3 artillery batteries (2 further in transport mode)
Officers and ADC's aplenty
3 battalions of Swiss

That's about two divisions, plenty to be going on with, and before I forget the same for the Russians.

After much thinking and perusing of all things shiney a decision has been reached!!! 10mm for my WW2 wins! Its a space, cost thing....... that and Pendrakens figures are very nice! so lots of things for sale shortly this can then be turned about and re-invested.

The Napoleonics I have in 6mm are also floating my boat at the moment, I guess its down to finally getting some painted, a great motivator........

Far too many guns!

Currently I have a box of warlord plastic Romans on the go, just the one box to see what they are like, good is my overall opinion, but I think 6mm will win over as it will for 7YW, AWI, ACW etc 28mm is just too large for the level of massed ranks I like.
